Training - How do we do it

Dogsense’s unique training program ensures that both handlers and dogs are getting the best possible training.

Our dogs undergo a rigorous five month training program, 6 days a week,
2 hours a day. Our dogs are trained to identify 16 types of explosives with quantities ranging from 10 grams to 100 kilos. (There is a difference in the smell depending on the mass.) No other country in the world trains their dogs with these varying amounts of explosives.

Our handlers enjoy the benefit of an exclusive program that exposes them to all aspects of explosive and drug detection. Great efforts are made to carefully match handlers with their canines.

Several times a week, our staff checks each dog in the field, meeting with and getting updates from the handlers. Once a month dogs and handlers are invited to a supplementary training session, where many different scenarios are played out.
